19 to Villarreal but no Márquez
www.fcbarcelona.cat
This Saturday Josep Guardiola announced his 19-man squad for Sunday’s game away at Villarreal. Rafael Márquez has been left out as a precaution.
The club’s medical services say that the Mexican has been carrying a left thigh strain all
week, so as he’s not 100% fit they’ve decided not to take any chances and to leave him
at home.
Others missing
In addition to Márquez, Jorquera and Pedro have also been
left out, while Iniesta and Milito are still sidelined with injury. Guardiola will have to cut one
of the 19 from his squad before kick-off tomorrow at El Madrigal.
Last session in Barcelona
This Saturday morning the first team had its last training session in Barcelona before its
final game in 2008 away at Villarreal on Sunday. As has been the case over the last few days, Josep
Guardiola had all his players at the session held at Camp Nou except for the injured Gaby Milito.
Very special thanks
At the start of the session the squad was visited by the son
of Cristóbal, a fan who was much loved by first team and academy players alike and who passed away
early last Saturday. Jordi Najarro thanked the players for their support and the team responded
with a warm round of applause.
The squad
Valdés, Henry, Xavi, Piqué, Puyol, Cáceres, Sylvinho, Bojan, Eto'o, Messi, Hleb, Dani Alves,
Abidal, Keita, Gudjohnsen, Touré, Pinto, Sergio Busquets and Víctor Sánchez.
