“I have no doubts about my team”
Marc Guillén
Even though little has been said during the week about how hard the Villarreal match will be, Josep Guardiola believes his players will front up and be focussed for the whole ninety minutes of the game.
Josep Guardiola says that Barça will be looking to win their last match before the Christmas break
against excellent opponents. “It’s the last one that stays in the mind, not everything
that’s gone before,” he argued.
Three cameras
“Today there’ll be three cameras and when we played Madrid there were
thirty-seven of them,” he pointed out to illustrate the lack of media attention being paid to
the Villarreal clash.
Guardiola knows that Barça will really need to be up for Sunday’s match, and he is
confident that his players will be ready. “We’ve trained well during the week,”
he said. “We might win or we might lose, but I have no doubts about my players and the
team.”
Villarreal making waves
The Barça manager thinks that the key thing about Villarreal
is “the extremely high quality of their players” which is why they are making waves in
the League. “This is a club which knows exactly what it wants to do and which does those
things well from its academy upwards,” he said. “They’ve had a great structure in
place for a long time now which is giving them good results.”
Olympique Lyon
Guardiola was full of praise for Barça’s next Champions League opponents.
“I’ve never understood why people say one team is easier than another,” he said.
“They sell players every year but they also bring in the reinforcements as they’ve won
their League title for the last seven seasons and look as though they could make it eight on the
bounce. We’ll have to wait and see how things are come February.”
