Iniesta gets green light
Anna Segura
Almost eight weeks after he got injured, Andrés Iniesta was today given the green light by club doctors to return to action.
It might have arrived a bit late but this Monday Andrés Iniesta received the best Christmas gift he
could have hoped for; the green light from the club’s doctors to get back to playing
football. The midfielder trained normally with his team-mates on the day that Guardiola’s men
came back from their Christmas break.
Eight weeks
Andrés Iniesta picked up a serious thigh strain during
Barça’s Champions League clash with Basel on 4 November. Examination by club doctors
concluded he would be sidelined for eight weeks.
No hurry
During that time Andrés Iniesta said he was in no hurry to get back as he didn’t want
return to the fray too early and then get injured again. As a result his recovery has been measured
yet progressive.
Back on the pitch 20 days later
The first stage of his recovery focused entirely on
treatment. Then twenty days after his injury Andrés Iniesta was back on the pitch to start the
second stage.
Finally with the squad
In all this time one of the best days for Iniesta was 9 December, when he was able to get
back to training with his team-mates who gave him a welcoming round of applause on his return.
Since then the midfielder has gradually got back into daily training until today when he has
completed his recovery.
