Preparing for the first game against Sevilla

The Barça squad trained on Monday morning behind closed doors in preparation for the first of three matches against Sevilla over the next 12 days.

The Spanish Cup takes centre stage this week as Barça prepare to face Sevilla in the first leg of the R16 on Tuesday evening in the Camp Nou (kick-off 10 pm).

Three matches against Sevilla

Tuesday’s night’s match is the first of three between Barça and Sevilla over the next couple of weeks. The return leg of the Cup tie in the Sánchez Pizjuán will be played next week (date and time not yet confirmed) while the two sides also meet in the league on the weekend 16/17th January.

Training session

Today’s session was held at the Club’s training grounds and included four players from the reserves: Víctor Vázquez, Jonathan Dos Santos, Thiago and Gai Assulin. These players have been training with the senior squad over the past few days.

Abidal in gym

Meanwhile, French defender Eric Abidal stayed in the gym to exercise but there does not seem to be any problem that will keep him out of Tuesday’s match.

The session was observed by the coach of FC Barcelona juvenil B, and former player, Sergi Barjuan.
