The French defender, who gave his fourth assist of the season on Saturday night, is enjoying some excellent form right now and reckons: “I just want to enjoy this moment”.
Although he admitted “my legs were aching this morning”, Abidal claimed: “I
played a pretty complete game, just like the rest of the team – we put in an impeccable
performance”. Abidal also insisted how happy he is at Barca: “I love everything about
the city, especially the club – playing for Barca is a dream come true and I just want to
enjoy this moment”.
The French international was wearing a commemorative bracelet for the victims of the Haiti
earthquake and was clearly upset when he told reporters: “I’ve got friends there, but
they haven’t answered the phone for days, I just hope they are alright”.
Here are some of the other players post match reactions:
Márquez
“Being champions at the half way stage doesn’t mean anything, We knew that Madrid
had lost and we wanted to take advantage of that. The lead we have will help us concentrate on
working hard for the rest of the league and the Champions League”.
“Puyol picked up a knock, but he’s OK”
“I felt better in Tenerife and the minutes I played tonight will help me get back to
match fitness”.
Henry
“We could have scored more in the first half, but Palop was again in great form. We haf
the lucky break tonight that we missed on Wednesday and Escudé’s own goal helped us to get
our game together”.
“The 5 point lead wil help us to prepare the upcoming games”.
Iniesta
“The win has brought back the good feelings”
“We always try and enjoy and win. It’s not always easy, but tonight we put in a
really complete performance”.
“It’s a good moment for me. There’s still a way to go, but I’m
optimistic. I’m satisfied with my game, but there are always things to improve”
“It was important that we reacted after the elimination. Now we have to win the league
games and prepare for the Champions League”.
