The squad were back in training this morning after their two day break and began preparations for Saturday’s game in Valladolid. Good news was the reappearance of Jeffren, whilst on the downside, Sergio Busquets was forced to watch from the sidelines
With no Cup or European commitments till the end of February, the squad find themselves facing six
weeks with just a game a week – something which hasn’t happened for a while, but there
was no sign of a drop in commitment or effort in this morning’s training session, the first
after Saturday’s win against Seville.
Jeffren on his way back
Guardiola would also have been pleased to see his young forward Jeffren
back with the rest of the squad after his lay off since the injury against Kazma in December.
Although he’s not yet been given the full medical okay, Jeffren is clearly well on his way to
a full recovery.
Puyol in perfect condition
Carles Puyol, who had to come off against Seville after a bang on the
head, showed no after effects this morning and took a full part in the session. Unfortunately the
same isn’t true for Sergio Busquets who’s been ordered to rest for a week after the
knock to his kidneys on Saturday and he was forced to sit out this morning’s session and
watch from the sidelines.
Abidal and Chyigrinskiy tested
Just before the session the cameras caught Abidal and Chygrinskiy taking
one of the squad’s regular physical tests.
Thiago and Jonathan dos Santos trained with the first team squad, whilst their teammates
Víctor Vázquez and Gai Assulin turned to the Barca Atletic group.

FIFA decides not to punish Henry
FIFA’s disciplinary committee decided this Monday that there was to be no punishment for
Thierry Henry for his handball in the France –Ireland World Cup playoff game in Paris,
concluding that there was "no legal foundation" to deal with the case. The committee added: "there
is no other legal text that would allow the committee to impose sanctions for any incidents missed
by match officials."
