Keita returns to the squad
www.fcbarcelona.cat
Seydou Keita is back in the FC Barcelona after his participation in the African Cup of Nations and will be joined by Carles Puyol and Jonathan for the trip to Real Valladolid this weekend.
The Mali midfielder has not played for the Blaugrana since the Club World Cup before Christmas as
he joined his international team-mates before the resumption of the
domestic league
to play in the African tournament. Keita is one of 19 players called up by coach Pep
Guardiola. Puyol is included despite missing training on Thursday with a back problem while
Jonathan has also been promoted from the youth ranks.
Sergio Busquets is out of action as he continues to recover from the
knock sustained against Sevilla last weekend and Jeffren is also out injured. Touré Yaya is still
away with the Ivory Coast in Angola at the African Cup of Nations and Thiago Alcántara is rested.
Training day
Guardiola released his list of players after a behind closed doors
training session at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. Busquets worked on his own as he continues to
recover from injury while Puyol and Keita were back with the squad. Jeffren saw his efforts take a
setback as he has tonsillitis.
Thiago and Jonathan were the only youth team players participating as Andreu Fontás was not
available.
The squad
Valdés, Pinto, Alves, Cygrynskiy, Milito, Márquez, Puyol, Piqué, Abidal, Maxwell, Jonathan, Xavi,
Iniesta, Keita, Henry, Bojan, Pedro, Messi and Ibrahimovic.
