Perfect reaction: 13-0
Marc Guillén
Following their 1-2 defeat in the Cup to Seville, Barca have bounced back, winning the next four games, scoring 13 goals and not conceding any at all.
Guardiola’s all conquering team may have crashed out of the Cup, but following their first
leg defeat at home to Seville, they showed the character of Champions to win the next four games,
banging in the goals and not conceding a single one themselves.
Four wins
Immediately after the defeat to Seville, the team hit five in Tenerife,
before beating Seville 0-1 in the second leg and then thrashing them 4-0 in the league at the Nou
Camp. Finally, last weekend they rounded off their unbeaten first half of the league campaign with
a 0-3 win in Valladolid.
Messi leads the scorers
Lionel Messi has scored 6 of the 13 goals during the run, including a hat trick in Tenerife.
He also scored two in the win over Seville in Barcelona and one more last weekend. Puyol, Pedro,
and Alves have been the other scorers, along with two own goals.
Valdes unbeaten
It’s just as important to stop the other team scoring as to
scotre yourselves and in these last 4 games Barca could not have done better with Victor Valdes not
conceding a single goal – a tribute to the defending of the whole team and the keeper’s
excellent performances, particularly in Tenerife and Valladolid.
