Alves definitely out
www.fcbarcelona.cat
Dani Alves will not be playing in Gijón after failing to complete the last training session before the game on Saturday. Sergio Busquets, Touré and Jeffren have all been declared fit.
Dani Alves pulled a leg muscle in training on Thursday and although
tests have revealed there is no serious injury, after just a few minutes of training today, the
coaching staff decided he is no condition to take part in Saturday’s game against Sporting
Gijón.
Seventeen starts
Alves is a fundamental part of the team. This season he has made 30 official appearances
already, including the last 17 on the trot. The only game he has missed this season was the home
win against Mallorca (4-2) on November 7.
Jeffren and Busquets are back
But it was not all grim news for Guardiola. Sergio Busquets and Jeffren have both been given
the all-clear. Sergio is back after picking up a renal injury against Sevilla (4-0), two games ago,
while Jeffren was injured in the pre-Christmas friendly in Kuwait. He is back with the team, but
nevertheless, has not been selected for this weekend’s match.
