Alves and Xavi in for Stuttgart trip

Although they have yet to be given the medical OK to play, both Alves and Xavi have been named in the squad to travel to Stuttgart. Youngsters Jonathan dos Santos and Bartra are also in the 20-man party for the Champions League match.


The team fly out to Germany this Monday ahead of Tuesday’s Round of 16 first leg against Stuttgart and Guardiola has named 20 players for the trip, including Alves and Xavi, who both worked with a trainer on Sunday morning, but have not yet been given the medical all clear to play.

Bartra and Jonathan join up

2010-02-21_ENTRENO_55.JPGGuardiola has also called up two of the Barca Atletic youngsters - Jonathan dos Santos and Marc Bartra for the game. Dos Santos made his Champions League debut against Inter at the Nou Camp earlier this season, whilst for Bartra it’s a first European call up.

Light training

2010-02-21_ENTRENO_04.JPGSunday’s light training session was mainly dedicated to recovering from last night’s game. Ibrahimovic, Keita and Abidal were all missing, with the Swede getting treatment on the ankle injury that kept him out of the Racing game and Keita and Abidal working on their recoveries.

Eight Barca Atletic players

Eight Barca Atletic players joined the session - Bartra, Thiago and Jonathan dos Santos, who have been with squad for the last few days, and Edu Oriol, Ilie, Benítez, Luque and Jordi Masip.

Flight out on Monday

The squad leave the Ciutat Esportiva for Germany at 9.45 Monday morning, flying out of El Prat at 10.30 and landing at 12.40.
