The return of midweek European football is being matched by a change in the Barça training schedule for the games against Stuttgart and Malaga.
The players have been restricted to one match a week since being knocked out of the Spanish Cup by
Sevilla at the beginning of the year. However, midweek football returns for Barça with
Tuesday’s vital Champions League clash against Stuttgart. Four days later, the players face a
league encounter against Malaga.
The Mercedes Benz Arena
The Barça party left for Stuttgart on Monday morning ahead of their R16
Champions league match on Tuesday. Josep Guardiola and Leo Messi will give a press conference at
5.45 pm followed by training in the Mercedes Benz Arena at 6.30 pm.
Back on Wednesday
Unlike previous occasions, the Barça party will remain in Stuttgart until Wednesday morning
but are due back in Barcelona for a training session at 2 pm.
Three days to prepare Malaga game
As soon as the final whistle goes in Germany the players will have to
turn their thoughts to Saturday’s league match against Malaga in the Camp Nou. On Thursday
and Friday, the players will train at 11 am. Friday’s session will be behind closed doors and
afterwards Guardiola will give a press conference.
Saturday last minute touches
Saturday’s match in the Camp Nou will kick off at 10 pm. The players will have a final
training session at 12.30 in which Guardiola will be able to make any last minute adjustments.
