Messi overtakes Ronnie
Anna Segura
Leo Messi’s goal against Malaga was his 71st in the league and it takes him ahead of Ronaldinho in the club’s all time league scorers table.
After two games without a goal, Messi was back on target against Malaga, scoring the winner that
ensured the team spend another week on top of the league table and also put him ahead of Ronaldinho
in the list of the club’s all time league goal scorers.
Great goals to games ratio
Since his debut in the 2004/05 season, Leo Messi has played 129 league
games and scored 71 goals – an average of 0.55 goals a game, or one strike every two
appearances.
One more than Ronaldinho
Ronaldinho, who played for Barca between 2003/04 and 2007/08, played 145 league games and
scored 70 goals, averaging 0.48 goals a game.
16th in club
However, Messi, who is now 16th in the club’s all time league
scorers, still has a long way to go to catch the top marksmen: César, who played 287 games between
1945 and 1955 scored 195 goals, behind him is Kubala, with 131 goals in 186 games and Samuel
Eto’o who scored 108 goals in 142 league games.
Most goals against Atletico Madrid and Sevilla
There are only two league clubs that Messi has so far failed to score against – Jerez
and Villarreal, whilst his favourite victims are Atletico Madrid and Seville against both of whom
he has scored 7 goals.
