Pedro: more goals than ever
Sandra Sarmiento
Pedro has scored 16 goals so far this season and established a new personal record. Since he joined the Barça youth academy, he had never managed this total in a season.
He’s getting better all the time and on Saturday against Malaga he celebrated his 50th first
team game with yet another fantastic goal. He always seems to pop up when he’s most needed
and once again he was on hand to open up the game. He’s now scored 16 goals, putting him
second in the Barça goal ranking - which isn’t bad for a player not considered a striker! A
surprising situation, even for Pedro.
Barça Atlètic, 16 goals
The same as in seven months with the first team. Under Pep Guardiola
with Barça B, the Canary Island born forward scored 6 goals and made a vital contribution to
promotion to Second B. Last year, Pedro alternated appearances with Barça Atlètic, managed by Luis
Enrique, with his appearances in the first team. It was his most fruitful season to date – a
total of ten goals that helped the team maintain their play-off aspirations until the last game. In
the 2006/07 season, Pedro scored 4 goals with Barça C.
Two-footed
Although Pedro is right-footed, he is happy using both feet and demonstrates this by scoring
with both left and right. This season he has scored 10 goals with his right foot, 5 with his left
and one header. The Abu Dhabi goal. The goal that gave Barça the World Club Cup title.
Second in the goal ranking
7 goals in the league, 2 goals in the Champions League, 3 goals in the
Cup, 1 goal in the Spanish Super Cup, 1 goal in the European Super Cup and 2 goals in the World
Club Cup. 16 goals in 1, 923 minutes of playing time. A fantastic average. Pedro has gone down in
the history books for scoring in every possible competition. He’s already scored one more
goal than Ibrahimovic and only needs 8 more to equal the leading scorer in the team and in the
league – Leo Messi.
