The Brazilian fullback believes Barça will have to pull out all the stops against Stuttgart. According to Alves, any less than 200% and “you’re out”.

“If you’re not at 200%, you’re out. We have to charge our batteries and be prepared. I want to go through to the next round. We have a magnificent opportunity in front of our own fans and in our own stadium. We mustn’t waste it. We know how important and difficult the competition is. The slightest slip and they can send you home. It’s a really difficult match and we have to go flat out”.

However, Alves declined to make any predictions and insisted that his dream at the moment is not to reach the final in the Bernabeu but to reach the quarterfinals!

Leo, the best in the world

Alves shares the wing with Leo Messi, a player in form who demonstrated his value with a hat trick against Valencia (3-0). Alves doesn’t want to put any labels on Leo Messi but believes he is the undisputed leader of the team: “He’s in excellent form. He’s saving us a lot. We’ve got the best player in the world. He pulls the team forward, takes charge and we are the keys that help the commander work. I hope that the attack keeps working right to the end”.

Aid for Haiti
Dani Alves has recorded an appeal for Global Humanitaria in aid of the victims of the Haiti earthquake. The appeal lasts 30 seconds: “I’m Dani Alves. I play for Barcelona and now also for the team of Global Humanitaria. We’re working together in favour of the victims of the Haiti earthquake. Your help is important. Help Global Humanitaria”. Dani offered himself to make the appeal, the aim of which is to find a solution to hunger in Haiti through the UN World Food Programme.

One of the journalists suggested that the players might donate internal squad fines to the cause of Haiti. Alves said: “Tomorrow I’ll suggest it to Guardiola and we’ll see if it’s OK. I’m sure he’ll accept it”.
