The last Champions League game at the Nou Camp was 113 days ago –against Inter Milan on November 24th- a game Barca won 2-0.
Nearly four months later, the Champions League Anthem will be booming out of the Nou Camp sound
system as Barca entertain Stuttgart in the last 16 of the competition.
Since the Inter game, Barca have played 9 games at home – 7 league matches and 2 in the
Cup.
From Inter to Stuttgart
The
win against Inter was vital in Barca’s bid to reach the knock out stages and it meant that
they only needed a draw in their last game in Kiev – which they actually ended winning 1-2 of
course.
Barca have played 22 games in those 113 days: two in the Champions League, two in the Spanish
Cup, two in the World Club Cup and 15 games in the Spanish League.
Of those 21 matches, Barca have won 17, drawn three and lost just twice – against
Atletico Madrid and Seville. In terms of goals, Barca have scored 44 and conceded just 14 in the 21
matches.
World Champions
The most important moment for the club since the Inter game has to be the lifting of
the World Club Cup in Abu Dhabi. The wins over Atlante and Estudiantes brought the club their first
ever World Club title. The elimination in the Cup by Seville and the duel with Real Madrid at the
top of the league have also been notable points over the last 113 days.
Last season, the team had to go 93 days without a European game between the group and knock out stages, with the last group game against Shaktar on December 9th 2008 and the return leg of the Lyon game on 11th March 2009.
