Training focus on Zaragoza
Marc Guillén / Vanessa Forns
FC Barcelona remained totally focussed on their trip to play real Zaragoza at the weekend as they trained on Friday morning despite the excitement of the Champions League draw.
Before being paired with Arsenal in the quarter finals of the European competition the Blaugrana
first-team players were put through their paces at the Ciutat Esportiva. Coach Pep Guardiola, who
enjoyed a round of applause on his saint’s day, was not going to allow his players to think
about anything other than the three points in La Romareda on Sunday.
Starting at 10.30 am all the available players took the field at the
training complex. Xavi Hernández was not present as he continued with his recuperation from the
calf injury that he sustained earlier this week.
Busquets returns
Sergio Busquets returned to full training after spending Thursday working on the sidelines as
he continued to try and shake off a knock that he picked up against VfB Stuttgart.
Abidal trains
Éric Abidal trained away from the rest of the squad once again as he
stepped up his personal programme and looked to be in good shape as he went through his exercises.
Oriol and Assulin
Guardiola called upon the services of youngsters Edu Oriol and Gai Assulin to train with the
senior stars and continue to give them invaluable experience at the highest level.
