Second league win on the trot at the Bernabeu
Jordi Clos
Barca have now won their last two league games against Madrid at the Bernabeu – something the club had never managed before.
After last season’s fantastic 2-6 win, Barca again showed who was
boss on Saturday night and inflicted Madrid’s first home defeat of the season in the league,
indeed it’s the first home league game Pellegrini’s team haven’t won, having
taken 45 points from their previous 15 games and the first home game they’ve failed to score
in in all competitions, having only failed to win twice - in the Champions League to AC Milan(2-3)
and Lyons (1-1)
Fourth win on the run
It’s also the fourth win on the run against Madrid and keeps up
Guardiola’s 100% record in games between the two. Last season the 2-0 win at the Nou Camp was
followed by the 2-6 thrashing in Madrid and earlier this season a Zlatan Ibrahimovic strike gave
Barca a 1-0 win at the Nou Camp. Guardiola is only the second Barca boss to win twice at the
Bernabeu after Frank Rijkaard achieved a 1-2 win in 03/04 and then a 0-3 victory in 05/06. All in
all, Barca have won on 4 of their last 7 visits to the Bernabeu.
