Gerard Piqué has admitted that as well as beating Espanyol to win the three points this weekend he wants a Barça victory to show who is the best team in the Catalan capital.
The defender was speaking to Barça TV about the local derby at the new Cornellà-El Prat stadium on
Saturday when he outlined why he wants an away day triumph.
Double dream
"Everyone wants to win these games partly because of the three points but also because we
have to show who is the best team in the city," Piqué explained. "In that sense, we want to win
too. We are playing for it all and need the points to help with the title bid.
"If we were not convinced that
we could win the double [of title and Champions League] then it would be better not to play, but
now we are close to achieving it and we will do everything that we can to do it," he continued.
"There are nine games left, nine finals including the actual Champions league final, and we have to
win them all to win the double."
Staying up
On Espanyol's ambitions for the derby game Piqué recognised that "they need to win to help
their survival push" and believes that as a result "it will be a good game to see".

The best yet
Gerard Piqué thinks that the atmosphere within the Barça camp has ensured that they will enjoy
another successful season. "It is the best squad I have ever been with behind the scenes," he
explained. "We all have our role, some being more important than others, but each one carries out
what they have to do and we all feel comfortable."
