Guardiola relishing vital derby
Jordi Clos
Pep Guardiola believes that CF Barcelona's game against Espanyol is even more vital given the small number of games there are left in the current season.
The Blaugrana boss recognised that with so few matches remaining the margin for error was no almost
zero and thinks that makes the Blaugrana's first ever trip to Cornellà-El Prat even more important.
"We will try to play with continuity and try to create a lot of chances without allowing them
many," Guardiola stated. "We will try to take the game where we want it to go. But things must not
be taken out of context because this is just one more game. We hope that there will be no incidents
and that the best team wins."
Tough opponents
Looking at Espanyol's form Guardiola does not think that only Osvaldo
should be watched. "He has scored goals and moves well inside the area, but there are other players
like Callejón, Luis García, etc. Espanyol have always been tough opponents, even when I was a
player. They will be ready for this and have a good coach and strong Argentinian players and this
is their game of the year. We have a lot and for them this is it."
"Nobody will give us anything"
"I have a lot of faith in my squad," Guardiola continued. "The game is
very important and will show us where we stand. Winning would be a very important step because
there are less and less games each week. Nobody will give us anything and I think that Madrid will
lose very few games as they have won 13 of their last 14. This will go down to the wire."
