Pep: “We’ll look at what we can do better”

Josep Guardiola congratulated Inter on their win tonight, but warned them: “the 90 minutes in the second leg will be very long!” Guardiola insisted that his players would give their all in the return game to turn the result around.
“I’m sure the fans will all be there and we will make those 90 minutes last a long time
for Inter. We will look at what we can do better and really prepare the second leg. I’m proud
of how the players behaved tonight”, commented Guardiola after the game.
Why did we lose?
Guardiola reckoned the defeat was down to: “playing against a
good team”, but also because “we gave away simple balls - we knew what to expect if we
lost the ball and that they would try and hit us on the break, looking for the space behind us to
release their forwards”.
Asked about his changing Ibra for Abidal, the boss explained: “Ibra has been 17 or 18
days without playing and he played 10 minutes the other day practically without any training.
We’ve played without a recognised centre forward before – in the 2-6 win in the
Bernabeu for instance”.
“It’s a miracle - we committed more fouls!”
With Inter’s second goal coming from what looked to be a foul on Messi and their third
from an offside position, Guardiola, whose players found it hard to match Inter’s physical
approach, commented ironically, “it’s a miracle –we had more fouls blown against
us than they did!”
