Abidal unable to train
Sandra Sarmiento / Vanessa Forns
Éric Abidal was unable to train on Friday morning as the rest of the FC Barcelona squad were put through their paces at the club’s Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper complex.
The French defender suffered a groin injury in midweek and was absent from the last session that
the players have before they take on Xerez on Saturday evening in Camp Nou.
19 players
After seeing every player except Andrés Iniesta able to participate on
Thursday, just 24 hours later coach Pep Guardiola was unable to count on the services of Abidal
after the player was advised not to train by the club’s medical team.
Saint’s day
While the rest of Barcelona celebrated Sant Jordi’s Day by
exchanging books and roses, the Blaugrana squad concentrated on working with the ball and their
first touch. Stretching was also on the agenda along with circuits to keep the squad on their toes
as they prepare for a must-win home game against the top tier’s bottom side.
