Canaletes celebrates the title
www.fcbarcelona.cat
Thousands of Barça fans took to the streets of central Barcelona to celebrate their team’s second consecutive league title. As ever, the Canaletes fountain and Plaça de Catalunya were the focus for the festivities.
While the players were celebrating the win on the Camp Nou turf, those who were unable to go to the
ground celebrated the championship in the area around Plaça de Cataluña, where a giant screen had
been installed. The fans all chanted the names of their heroes and joined in with the songs as if
they were in the Camp Nou itself.
Around the fountain
The supporters gathered around the legendary Canaletas fountain at the top of Las Ramblas and
the surrounding streets, which were decked out in the Barça colours in the form of flags, shirts
and scarves.
There were still people there in the small hours of the night, filling the Barcelona evening
with songs and joy.
Excellent behaviour
To make sure things didn’t get too out of hand, the Mossos d'Esquadra and Guardia
Urbana were on hand around the Plaça de Catalunya and Las Ramblas to keep an eye on the
proceedings. Also, in order to keep a control of things, the media, Barcelona city council and the
Home Office of the Generalitat had issued an announcement calling for respectful behaviour in the
streets.
