David Villa has passed his medical at FC Barcelona on Friday morning and will now put pen-to-paper on his new contract at Camp Nou.
The striker’s first day as a Blaugrana player began early as he
arrived at Hospital de Barcelona at 7.30am to undergo the first part of his physical examination
which included a blood test. Even at that early hour there were fans that wanted a photo with Villa
and his autograph, which he duly gave with a smile before spending three hours with doctors.
Testing time
Villa then headed to Camp Nou to have the second part of his medical
with the Barça doctors and he was put through a rigorous test of his physical strength. After
arriving at the stadium at 11am, the former Valencia goalscorer was preparing himself to be
presented to the media and then the supporters later in the day.
Ready to play
FC Barcelona doctor Ricard Pruna outlined what Villa had been through in
his medical as he spoke to Barça TV and www.fcbarcelona.cat. “He first went to Hospital de
Barcelona for tests that included blood analysis and was put through a series of things like X-rays
and scans,” he said. “Afterwards the club’s medical team tested his physique with
a number of tests also. All these tests have only confirmed that he is ready to come to Barça and
ready to play in the forthcoming World Cup Finals.”
