Thousands flock to see Villa
Jordi Clos
Thousands of FC Barcelona supporters packed into Camp Nou to catch their first glimpse of David Villa wearing the famous Blaugrana colours.
The fans created a party atmosphere as they watched the new striker’s presentation to the
media on the giant screens in the stadium before they were able to see him in person as he took to
the field. With the second tiers of the Tribuna alongside the pitch and Gol Nord to the left of the
tunnel full Villa himself admitted that he was a little nervous having completed his dream move.
Filling up
The doors to Camp Nou did not open until 1.30pm the arena quickly
filled as people chose their seat above the pitch and expectation and excitement ran high. There
were a lot of Asturian flags on display in honour of Villa while Barça TV captured the moment for
all the Barça supporters watching at home and in bars around the world.
On the pitch
At 2.30pm Villa took to the Camp Nou pitch wearing the new home kit,
with red shorts and yellow trim, and was met with a huge roar from the crowd. After saying a few
words the goalscorer kicked footballs into the stand and did a lap in order for photos to be taken
and to salute the fans.
