Eight Barça players now in Las Rozas
Jesús Carrillo
The FC Barcelona players picked by Vicente del Bosque arrived in Las Rozas on Monday morning to start preparing for the South African World Cup.
Most of the players spent the weekend regaining strength after the League title celebrations, but
now it’s back to work for them in a very different environment. They are with the Spain squad
that will be playing in the World Cup in June and July.
Villa and his new colleagues
Víctor Valdés, Carles Puyol, Gerard Piqué, Xavi Hernández, Andrés Iniesta, Sergio Busquets,
Pedro Rodríguez and David Villa are all now under the orders of Vicente del Bosque. It has given
the FCB representatives their first chance to exchange words with new team-mate David Villa, who
was added to Guardiola’s squad last week.
Three pre-World Cup friendlies
Before the tournament starts, Spain have three warm-up matches against Saudi Arabia, South
Korea and Poland. They will not actually fly out to South Africa until June 10.
Argentina and Mexico matches
On Monday, Leo Messi and his Argentina side will be playing Canada in the Monumental in Buenos
Aires at 21.30 (16.30 local time). Meanwhile, Rafa Márquez and Jonathan dos Santos, will be playing
at Wembley in London against Fabio Capello’s England. The game kicks off at 21.00.
