Inter and Barca top IFFHS rankings
www.fcbarcelona.cat
The last two teams to conquer the treble –Barca and Inter Milan- share the number one spot in the latest IFFHS (International Federation of Football History and Statistics) rankings.
FC Barcelona had been on top of the rankings on their own, but Inter’s treble winning season
– Italian League and Cup and the Champions League – has pushed them up to equal
Barca’s 297 points and share the top spot.
Last five wins key
Josep Guardiola’s team owe their position in large part to their great end to the
domestic season when they strung together five consecutive wins to take the league title after a
campaign that saw them defeated just once.
No challengers from Spain
Bayern
Munich, the Champions League runners up and the highest ranked team for April are fourth with 257
points, with the Argentinean team Estudiantes in third with 286 points and Rome in fifth with 248.
Barca’s dominance in Spain is clear from the other ranked La Liga team’s positions:
Europa Cup winners Atletico Madrid are 10th, whilst Valencia are 15th, Seville 21st and Real Madrid
are down in 24th place.
