The Brazilian has won everything at club level and is now looking to win the World Cup. Thierry Henry is the only current Barça player to have won the trophy.
Dani Alves’s career has been all about winning. He is only 27 but he has League, Cup,
Champions League, Clubs World Cup and many other medals. No wonder he is always smiling. But one
tournament he has yet to win is the biggest one of all – the World Cup.
5 titles with Sevilla
Dani Alves started out at Sport Clube Bahia, where he won the Brazilian Interstate
championship. Then in 2003 he left for Sevilla, and played a part in one of the most brilliant
periods in the Andalusian club’s history. At the Sánchez Pizjuán, he won the Copa del Rey,
Spanish Supercup, two UEFA Cups and the European Supercup against Barça in Monaco.
Six of the best with Barça
Alves came to the Camp Nou in 2008 and has won seven titles, inclusing all six major
titles in one single season. With a regular place in Guardiola’s starting line-up, he has
added the Spanish Liga, the Champions League and the Clubs World Cup to his impressive list of
conquests.
One missing title
Alves is now in South Africa with his national team. He is not guaranteed a place in
the first team, but has always excelled when appearing for the ‘canarinha’. Wearing
number 13, he has won the Under 20 World Cup, the Copa America and the Confederations Cup. This
summer, he could be adding the World Cup to his honours list.
