Pedro Rodriguez signed a new deal with the Club on Wednesday that will take him through to 2015.

Pedro travelled back to Barcelona after the Spain squad was given the day off. His current deal took him through to the end of the 2013-14 season and has now been extended until 2015. His release clause has been increased from 75 to 90 million euros.

His salary has also been raised to reflect his new weight in the senior squad.

”I’m very happy”

"An unrepeatable season"

Looking back over the season, Pedro revealed: “It’s been a very good year. I’m very happy with a season that will probably be unrepeatable. Everything worked out well and in the end we secured a very difficult league title”.

A first team regular

Pedro started the season on the subs bench and ended it as a first team regular as well as being included in Del Bosque’s final Spain squad for the World Cup, scoring his first international goal in Spain’s 6-0 thrashing of Poland on Tuesday.

Decisive goals

Laporta: "Pedro deserved recognition"
Speaking immediately after signing the new deal on behalf of the Club, Joan Laporta explained: “He’s really exploded onto the scene this season. His talent and his personal profile show that he deserved recognition and an improved contract. We have Pedro until 2015. It’s marvellous to have players like him who have come up through the youth ranks and so are fully integrated”.

Finally, Mr Laporta thanked the director of sport and the vice-president for sports for their efforts.
