Iniesta: “I expect to be able to play the opening game”

Andrés Iniesta was in Barcelona on Wednesday so that Club doctors could have a good look at the injury he picked up playing for Spain against Poland on Tuesday. The signs are good and Iniesta should be available for Spain’s opening match.
According to the bulletin released on Wednesday afternoon Iniesta has a slight swelling in his
right leg. However, the problem is not serious and Iniesta is expected to leave as planned with the
rest of the Spanish squad for South Africa.
“It’ll be fine”
Iniesta spoke to reporters after his medical examination and told them.
“There’s not much to it. I expect to be able to play the opening game in the World Cup
and I’m optimistic as always”.
Iniesta had a bit of an injury-plagued season and has learned from the experience:
“I’m more aware of my body. The best thing was to stop playing although I knew that it
was in no way a serious injury”.
Feeling good
“I’ve been training well now for two weeks and I couldn’t be feeling
better. We have to capitalize on the fact that we’ve got a great team - a bunch of
spectacular players - try and not make mistakes, which is basic in a competition like the World
Cup, and go flat out to win”.
