Jesús Carrillo
Two of the three promotion spots from the second division were decided last weekend, with Real Sociedad and Llevant booking their places amongst the La Liga elite for next season.
The team from Donosti guaranteed their return to the top flight with a win over ex-Barca favourite
Eusebio’s Celta Vigo and next season Barca will be returning to play at the Anoeta and renew
the excellent relations the two clubs have always enjoyed at both the institutional level and
between the fans.
Llevant up too
After a two-year break, Llevant are also back in the first division which will give
Barca a chance to revisit the Ciutat de València Stadium which has had a special importance for the
club since Frank Rijkaard’s team sealed their first league title their in the 2004/05 season.
Betis and Hèrcules fight it out for third spot
With just one game left to play in the second division, Betis and Hercules will fight it out to the
last for the final promotion place. Both teams are on 68 points, but Hercules have the better goal
difference, which means the Seville team will need to better any result that Hercules achieve away
to Irun, when they take on Llevant at the Ruiz de Lopera, if they are to return to the top flight.
