Laporta: "Villa and Forlán, very interesting"

Joan Laporta has explained that FC Barcelona is still waiting on a response from Eto'o regarding the renewal of his contract. Whether to not he stays, the club is looking for a new forward, and Villa and Forlán are among those being looked into.
Before the start of the Assembly of the Spanish Football Federation in Las Rozas, Joan Laporta
spoke about some of the names being touted for inclusion in the squad for the 2009/10 season. One
of these is Samuel Eto'o, who Barça have offered a two-year extension on his contract.
Hanging on Eto'o
Joan Laporta declared that FC Barcelona are waiting for an answer from
Josep Maria Mesalles, Samuel Eto'o’s agent, to confirm "whether he wants to stay and accept
the offer of whether they are not interested … in principle, it seems he’s not that
interested", although Laporta denied that the Cameroonian "has already decided to leave Barça".
After a striker
Regardless of Samuel Eto'o’s future, the club is after a new striker: "the coaching
staff want to reinforce this position and there are players like Villa and Forlán that would be
very interesting additions to that area."
Waiting on Valencia
On the David Villa issue, he said: "we know that the player has an agreement with the club to
leave for a certain amount. We have made an offer and we have a bit of hope that they’ll
change their minds, because Valencia did tell us that they had no intention of selling".
