Gudjohnsen: “I still don’t know what my future is”
Jordi Clos
The Icelandic star has confessed that he still doesn’t know where he will be playing next season, but hopes to solve the issue in the coming weeks. Right now, he is concentrating on being mentally and physically prepared.
Two Barça players spoke to the press in London today, Víctor Valdés and Eidur Gudjohnsen. But in
terms of the Icelander, most of the questions were about his future. “I still don’t
know, in time we’ll see whether I stay or go”, he said before adding “I
can’t say any more because I’m not sure myself. I may possibly be able to say something
over the next few weeks”.
Getting into shape
Gudjohnsen merely stated that “for the time being,
I’m staying. I’m only thinking about being in shape for the start of the season”.
He claims to be in the right frame of mind for the preseason, and that any decision to leave
“will be for purely sporting reasons”.
But despite such uncertainty, Guddy believes “we have to be mentally and physically
prepared for what will be a long season with lots of targets”.
Experienced at Wembley
Barça start the season at Wembley. Having played for Chelsea, Gudjohnsen is familiar with the
stadium where Barça won their first European Cup. “I have had the honour of playing there
three times and it’s amazing. It will be very interesting to play against Tottenham”.
