Ibrahimovic visits training session
Berta Brau
Barça’s new signing visited the training grounds on Tuesday morning to speak with team manager Pep Guardiola and meet his new team-mates. This morning’s session was the first with the complete squad.
After the excitement of Monday evening’s signing ceremony and presentation before the fans in
the Camp Nou, Zlatan Ibrahimovic got his first sight of the Club’s training headquarters on
Tuesday morning.
First contact
The Swedish international striker had a meeting
with Josep Guardiola before training started and then went out onto the pitch to meet his new
team-mates. Abidal and Maxwell, who he knows from their days at Ajax, spent a few minutes talking
to him before the session.
26 players work out
This morning’s session was the first time
Guardiola has managed to get together almost all of his squad. Hleb (who is still awaiting a loan
deal) and Gaby Milito were missing but Puyol, Iniesta, Xavi, Piqué, Sergio Busquets and Dani Alves
were all back with the main group. The manager worked with 26 players, 22 of them from the senior
squad.
Four reserves
Reserve squad youngsters Marc Muniesa, Jonathan
Dos Santos, Fontàs and Jeffren, who all travelled with the senior squad to London, joined the
seniors at today’s session but are still waiting to know if they will travel to the USA on
Wednesday. This should be announced later this morning.
