No defeats for Barça’s internationals

The international fixtures featuring Barça players on Wednesday ended in wins or draws for their teams. Piqué scored for Spain while Messi and Márquez were unable to turn out in their games due to injury.
There were only wins and draws for Barça players in the international fixtures they appeared in on
Wednesday.
Piqué scores for Spain
Xavi, Carles Puyol and Gerard Piqué were in Vicente Del Bosque’s
starting XI for Spain’s friendly with Macedonia. Sergio Busquets came on in the second half.
The Macedonians took a two goal lead but Spain mounted an epic comeback in the second half with
three goals in just five minutes.
The second of them was scored by Barça’s Gerard Piqué. Fernando Torres and Riera
notched the other two in a win the team dedicated to Dani Jarque.
Abidal doesn’t play for France
Eric Abidal stayed on the bench for the full 90 minutes of France’s 1-0 win away at the
Faroe Islands in a World Cup 2010 qualifying game. Thierry Henry was not called up for the game due
to problems with his Achilles tendons in both legs.
Alves in second half
Brazil featuring Dani Alves beat Estonia in Tallinn with a goal from Luis Fabiano. Dani Alves
came on in the 59th minute for Maicon, and received a tough challenge which saw Dmitri Kruglov get
a straight red card.
Guddy and Touré draw, Keita wins
Eidur Gudjohnsen got a 1-1 draw in the game between Iceland and Slovakia, while Ivory Coast
and Touré Yaya played out a goalless draw with Tunisia. Keita was in the starting XI for
Mali’s 3-0 win over Burkina Faso.
