The first UEFA Media Open Day of the new season was held at the Barça training grounds on Thursday ahead of the European Super Cup on Friday 28th August in Monaco.
The football squad returned to training at the Sports Centre on Thursday afternoon to prepare for
the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup on Sunday. However, given that Barça are due to play the
European Super Cup the following Friday, the players also spoke to reporters about the match
against Shakhtar Donetsk as part of the first UEFA Media Open Day of the season.
First time at the Sports Centre
Previous UEFA Media Open Days have been held at the Camp Nou but this season the event has
been moved to the Joan Gamper Sports Centre as the day to day work of the squad is carried out at
these training grounds.
Reporters from around the world
Apart from the local reporters that usually cover the Barça news, some fifty international
journalists were present today, including representatives from Reuters, British papers 'The
Independent’ and 'The Sunday Times‘ and French TV station TF1. Also present was the
official Armenian TV station who hold the rights to the Spanish league in their country and who are
in Barcelona preparing a special report on Barça.
Focus on Ibrahimovic
A number of Swedish reporters are also in Barcelona to cover the debut of Ibrahimovic in the
Gamper and so were also present at the Media Open Day. Newspapers such as ‘Expressen
Aftonblaaded’ and ‘Dagens Nyheter’ took the opportunity to speak to the new Barça
striker.
