Guardiola adds another

Josep Guardiola has now won four trophies as head coach of FC Barcelona after he oversaw the Spanish Super Cup triumph on Sunday to add to the three that the team secured last term in a unique treble.
After only 14 months and six days in charge at Camp Nou, the Blaugrana's former midfielder has a
quartet of cups to his name after Barça netted three times in Camp Nou to beat Athletic Club on the
night and add to the 1-2 victory that was garnered in San Mamés seven days before.
Five times winner
Although this is the first time that Guardiola has won the trophy as a coach, he has plenty
of experience of being a winner as a player. During a glorious decade for the club, the current
trainer helped to guide the team to triumph in the Spanish Super in 1991, 1992, 1994 and 1996.
An historic year
Guardiola has set his team up to win trophies in the same manner that he
did when he was still pulling the strings in the midfield, but even he could probably not have
imagined that he would be leading out a team in the Super Cup after his first season in charge and
especially not after having to invite Athletic Club because Barça had won both the competitions
from which the teams usually come.
Another trophy
Barça and Guardiola have begun the new season just as they concluded the last as they lifted
a piece of silverware. On Friday (August 28) they could double that as they take on Shakhtar
Donetsk in the European Super Cup in Monaco.
