Reserve players the protagonists at training
Sandra Sarmiento / Vanessa Forns
The final training session of the week was held at the Ciudad Deportiva Joan Gamper on Friday morning, with several members of the reserve team involved.
With so many players away on international duty, Josep Guardiola has only had five first team
players with him this week, namely Iniesta, Márquez, Pinto, Maxwell and Pedro.
4 from Barça Atlètic; 4 from youth team
There were more reserve team players than ever this week, with four
from Barça Atlètic –Luque, Nolito, Ilie and Armando- plus four youth players – Etock,
Gustavo, Terrón and Balliu- who were there to make up the numbers for the session.
Josep Guardiola started by welcoming the new players into the unfamiliar surroundings, and
then had a long conversation with Maxwell.
Defensive work
13 players went through the usual drills before doing an exercise with the ball, the
objective of which was the fine tuning of defensive skills. It also involved a series of crosses
and shots.
Guardiola in action
They ended with a short game, with the players divided into teams of
seven, and Josep Guardiola, in a green bib, joining the attacking team.
Off until Tuesday
The Friday session was the last of the week. The players that don’t have internationals
will not be required back until Tuesday.
