Touré: “Now it’s important to gain confidence”
Anna Segura
Toure thinks it’s important the fact that Barca are leaders after the second game of the season. He thinks that the victory away at Getafe will give them the self-confidence to face the coming games, especially the one next Wednesday away at Inter.
Once again, there’s no time for Barca to wind down and savour their victory over Getafe
because this coming Wednesday they begin to defend their Champions League title away at the
Giuseppe Meazza against Inter Milan with Samuel Eto’o.
The price of playing for Barca
But for Touré, who gave a press conference this Sunday, this is the price you pay
for playing for Barca: “Barcelona is a great team, and every time there are internationals, a
lot of players go, and so the return is always tricky”. He believes there’s time to get
ready for Wednesday: “We’ve got two or three days to recover”.
Step by step
Touré didn’t give a lot of importance to being provisional leaders
of La Liga after the win at Getafe: “Now it’s important to gain confidence”.
Messi and Iniesta in the Coliseum
The Ivory Coast midfielder also spoke about Messi and Iniesta’s appearances in the
second half yesterday at Getafe: “They are two world-class players. They are both important
for Barca. The world was watching yesterday”. Touré was especially happy that Iniesta was
back: “There’s no doubt about it, after Messi, the second Golden Ball award should go
to Iniesta”.
Duel between Ibrahimovic and Eto’o
Next Wednesday there will be a duel between two strikers facing their former clubs
Ibrahimovic for Barca and Eto’o for Inter Milan. Touré Yaya wouldn’t be drawn into
comparing them: “They are both highly skilled but different players”. Though Touré is
clear about one thing; Barca won’t be adapting their style to block Eto’o, as
“Barca know how to defend well. We are a complete team who know how to play the ball”.
