Leo Messi was clearly very happy to have signed his contract extension on Friday and he believes that this is the culmination of a great season at the club.
It has to be the ambition of every player who starts out in the youth academy to play out his
career at the club and with the signing of the new contract extension Leo Messi is on course to do
just that. When his current contract runs out in 2016, Messi will be 29 years old, but, as he told
www.fcbarcelona and Barça TV: “I want to finish my career here at Barcelona”.
Recognition
The new deal comes as Messi is enjoying a great time at the club on the
back of last season's treble and the Spanish and European Super Cups this year and being voted the
best player in the 2008-09 Champions League and he admitted: “this is a result of everything
I gave to the team last season and all I've given since I came into the first team”.
Just one of the boys
Demonstrating his typical humility despite been seen by many as the
World's Number 1 player, Messi insisted: “I'm just one more in a very special group of
players, of a great team which is very united. I'm a part of that and we'll go on to win even
more”.
