In his nine games against Atetico Madrid , Leo Messi has now notched up 10 goals,seven in the legue and three in the cup. His two on Saturday night were also accompanied by a brilliant assist to set up Keita's goal.

0-6 at the Calderón

On May 20th 2007 Barca responded to Madrid's 2.3 win in Huelva with an astonishing win at the Vicente Calderon, smashing six goals past the unfortunate Atletico keeperAtletico MadridIván Cuéllar. Messi got two of the goals, the first opened the scoring after a one-two with Eto'o and the second was a lovely lob for the fifth.

Messi wins duel with Agüero

The following season Messi took part in the 3-0 win, setting up the first for Deco and scoring the second after combining with Ronaldinho. The comparisons with his fellow countryman Kun Aguero came to s top. It was clear which of them was the boss. It was asimilar story last season when Messi led Barca's 6-1 thrashing of the Madrid team with a brilliant goal from a direct free kick.

On Saturday Leo showed just why the club have extended his contract to 2016, as he made it three goals in juts two league games so far this season. His first on Saturday saw him get behind the visitors' defence and dummy the keeper with a brilliant shimmy and the second was fired home wih his right.
