Jesús Carrillo
Fernando Sanz, the president of Malaga, will be presiding over this weekend’s game at La Rosaleda. On the bench, Pep Guardiola seeking to win his fifth league game. They both last met on the pitch nine years ago.
The Malaga president and the Barça coach met in clashes between Andalusians and Catalans back in
the 1999/00 season.
Two away wins
It ended honours even. Malaga, at the Camp Nou got a surprise 2-1 win
against the side then coached by Louis van Gaal. Pep Guardiola and Fernando Sanz were only on the
field together for four minutes. Sanz came on after 63 minutes to replace Movilla. Guardiola, who
had started the match, was taken off in the 67th minute to make way for Zenden.
Half a season later, Barça won at the La Rosaleda against the team managed by Joaquín Peiró
(1-2). Catanha opened the scoring for the home side, but Abelardo and Patrick Kluivert turned the
game around. Fernando Sanz played the whole game while Guardiola, like in Barcelona, was once again
substituted in the 67th minute, this time replaced by a very young Xavi Hernández.
