Champions League back at Camp Nou
Marc Guillén
Five months on and the Champions League is back at the Camp Nou. Tuesday brings the visit of a classic of this competition, Dynamo Kiev.
The Champions League winners of last season are about to play their first home game in the
tournament as part of their title defence. It’s been almost half a year since the Camp Nou
was the venue on April 28 for the semi final showdown against Chelsea (0-0).
Odd start
Last season, Barça started their campaign against Sporting Lisbon (3-1),
on September 16, but the game with the Portuguese outfit wasn’t really their first Champions
League outing, as they had already played in the preliminary stages against Shakhtar, winning 4-0.
Media changes
Barça will be unveiling a number of new media elements for Tuesday night’s match.
Interviews in the Mixed Zone will be much more comfortable now that the space has been
redistributed, meaning more reporters will be able to get close to the protagonists.
And press conferences will run more smoothly now that each comment made by the managers will
not be followed by a translation, as has been the method until now. Instead, all of the replies
will be translated simultaneously, which will make the whole process faster.
