Ronald de Boer: "Ibrahimovic is so important"
Míriam Nadal
Ronald de Boer returned to Camp Nou on Tuesday to watch FC Barcelona's Champions League victory against Dynamo Kiev from the luxury of the seats behind the benches.
The former Blaugrana midfielder was not called upon in his pundit role for Al-Jazeera television
and so enjoyed the game and gave www.fcbarcelona.cat his views on the club. "Zlatan Ibrahimovic is
a special player," he explained. "For me, he is one of the best in the world in his position. Inter
and Juventus were only able to win the league with him in the teams. He can be very important and
as you can see, he creates so much. He is a lot more than a goalscorer."
Great options
During his two years as a Barça player De Boer filled in at left-back on occasion
and has been very impressed with the two options Pep Guardiola has this season. "Maxwell is a great
defender," he stated. "He is very good on the ball and at holding his position. He knows how to
play there. But in the game against Dynamo Kiev Abidal was fantastic and Pep has two great
options."
Best team in the world
"Barça play the best football in Europe, but in the Champions League everyone knows that the
best team does not always win," De Boer continued. "You need some luck, like Andrés Iniesta's goal
at Chelsea last season. But we look just at the football then Barça are the best team in the
world."
