Guardiola: 75 games in charge

Josep Guardiola took charge of his 75th game as FC Barcelona when Rubin Kazan visited on Wednesday and, despite the defeat, he has some impressive statistics.
Having taken at the start of last season, the Blaugrana boss led the team to
unprecedented treble last term as his team conquered the Spanish league, Copa del Rey and Europe.
Debut day
After spending a year in charge of Barça's B team, Guardiola stepped up to take over
as first-team coach in the summer of 2008 after Frank Rijkaard left the club. On August 13, 2008
the new trainer took charge of his first official match which they won 4-0 against Wisla Krakow.
Match stats
Guardiola has gone on to take charge of another 74 matches since then and hsa an impressive
record. The 75 games breaks down into 45 in the la Primera and 18 in the Champions League, nine in
the Copa del Rey, two in the Spanish Super Cup and another in the European Super Cup. Of that tally
the coach has overseen 52 wins (69.3 per cent) and only eight defeats (10.6 per cent. The other
very impressive statistic is that the team have scored 184 goals and let in just 61.
League records
In the league Guardiola has set a club record. He has an 88.8 per cent record of
games without defeat, surpassing every Barça coach before him. Terry Venables came closest with
85.34 per cent while Helenio Herrera (84,37%), Salvador Artigas (83,07%), Johan Cruyff (82,67%) and
Frank Rijkaard (82,63%) were next.
Guardiola has also overseen 13 friendlies, nine of which ended in victory with two draws and
two defeats.
