Guardiola knows the pressures surrounding the club as well as anybody and he's well aware that the high expectations will always mean eyebrows are raised after a defeat, but he's refusing to be drawn into the discussions and concentrating on his job.
Despite the murmurings in the local press and media, Guardiola is not wasting any time on the
matter: he knows how things work around the club: “if you win, everything is fine and
everyone is on your side, if you lose then things are going bad and you are in for
criticism”.
“You've got to live with criticism”
The boss is still “full of faith in the team. The players are training, competing and
playing every day – when that stops, I'll start worrying. You've got to live with criticism
and get on with it. I'm okay with it, but I'm just getting on and doing my job, trying to put right
things that haven't gone right. If there are useful suggestions, I'll listen, but my job isn't to
change people's opinions”.
Zaragoza similar toRubin
The backroom staff have fully analysed Zaragoza, even watching videos
of Marcelino's previous teams and Guardiola has been impressed by his opponent's tactical
knowledge: “they are a very well organised team, with very good defensive and attacking
systems. At the back, they have a similar set up to Rubin Kazan. It will be a tough game, we have
to be dynamic, but also show patience”.
Puyol
Guardiola also took the opportunity to congratulate captain Carles Puyol on his contract
extension: “it's very positive that a home grown player can finish his career off here.
That's not easy and the most important factor has been that that is what he wanted and the club did
too”

Rest for Messi ?
Lionel Messi has started the last 8 games for the team, whilst last season he never started more
than 6 on the run, which led various journalists to ask Guardiola if he was considering giving the
Argentinian star a rest. Guardiola answered: “ I didn't rest him after he came back from the
international games because he came back a day early and against Valencia we needed all our
important players. I'll certianly be giving him a rest when I can, but that's something I decide on
a day to day basis. We'll decide on Sunday, but he's happy and smiling and that's why I'm playing
him”.
