Poor league start, but Cultural unbeaten at home
Roger Bogunyà
Cultural Leonesa reached tonight's Cup tie thanks to two penalty shoot out wins in the three rounds they've played so far. In the league they are in the relegation zone, though they are still unbeaten at home.
The Leon team have been in Segona B – the third tier of Spanish football- since the 1995/6
season, but following their play off position last season, they are struggling this time around and
the game against Barca will be a welcome break from their grim league form.
Drop zone despite Jito's goals
Coach Josu Uribe has seen his team slip to 17th position in the league, having won
just twice -against Guijuelo (1-0) and Compostella (0-1). They've so far managed to score just
9 goal sin their 10 league games, and all of them have come from striker Jito.
Unbeaten at home
The only ray of
light for Cultural Leonesa has been their home form as they remain unbeaten, with four draws and
just the one win, a record Barca will be looking to smash on Wednesday.
Better luck in cup run
It's been a better story in the cup for the Castillian team though, having beaten
Lemona on penalties in the first round after a 2-2 draw, crushing Estepona 4-0 in the second round
and then again winning a penalty shoot out against Ontinyent after a goalless draw.
