Ten game unbeaten Cup run continues
Roger Bogunyà
Josep Guardiola has been incredibly successful as boss in all competitions with Barca, but especially so in the Spanish Cup where he boasts 8 wins and 2 draws in the 10 games he's managed the team for so far.
Barca haven't lost in the Cup since 20th March 2008, when they went down 3-2 to Valencia at the
Mestalla in the second leg of the semi finals with Frank Rijkaard in the manager's dugout. On the
same ground fourteen months and nine games later the team lifted the trophy after beating Bilbao.
Benidorm and Atletico Madrid brushed aside
The 10 game unbeaten Cup run began with 0-1 win at Benidorm and the
same result in the return leg at the Nou Camp. The next round saw Guardiola's team defeat Atletico
Madrid 1-3 and 2-1 to get through to the quarter finals after four wins out of four.
Espanyol and Mallorca force draws
Things got tougher in the last eight, with Espanyol holding the team to
a goalless draw at Montjuich and only a narrow 3-2 win at the Nou Camp seeing Barca through to the
semis where they beat Mallorca 2-0 at home and drew 0-0 at the ONO Stadium.
Final and new season -two more wins
The final in Valencia saw the team lift the first of their three
trophies after a 4-1 win over Bilbao and Wednesday's victory in Leon stretched their unbeaten run
to 10 games – will Guardiola push that even further this season?
