Xavi set for appearance record
Anna Segura
Xavi Hernández will move into joint second place in FC Barcelona all-time league appearance list level with club legend Carles Rexach if he plays against Real Mallorca on Saturday.
The Catalan midfielder will equal the former striker's 328-game record at the club where he first
joined in July, 1991 aged just 11.
Debut date
Since being promoted to the first team Xavi has become one of the key
figures in the side, a feat many predicted when he made his debut in the league on October 3, 1998
in a 1-3 win for the Blaugrana in Mestalla against Valencia.
33 league goals
During the 11 years since he played his first game, Xavi has scored 33
times with one of his most memorable efforts coming in the Santiago Bernabéu against Real Madrid in
2003/04 when he netted the winning goal.
Migueli out in front
Xavi, who will be 30 in January, now only has Migueli above him in the list of all-time
league appearances with the former defender playing no less than 391 games for the Blaugrana.
