The first thing is to win in Bilbao - Gerard Piqué reckons that the team must take each game as it comes and not lose focus by looking to the Inter and Madrid games.
Gerard Piqué is just focussed on winning at the San Mames on Saturday night, well aware of the
importance of a win ahead of the Madrid derby the weekend. Speaking at a press conference before
training this evening, Piqué stressed the importance of the three points on offer in Bilbao:
“that's our first objective. The team is focussed and we know that we always seem to find it
a bit tougher after an international break, but there are three points at stake on Saturday, just
the same as in the derby game”.
Bilbao up for revenge?
The Barca defender understands that Bilbao will be going into the game
with a special motivation after losing to Barca in the Spanish Cup and Super Cup finals:
“it's normal that when that happens the other team are going to be really up for the game.
They also know that we are favourites and that just means we have to give everything we can to make
sure we win”.
Importance of staying top
The team obviously want to go into the Madrid game as leaders and to do that they need a win
at San Mames: “you have to make your point and ensure that your rivals take note. Saturday we
have to win and then move on to the Inter and Madrid games”.
