At 13.45 today, Andrés Iniesta extended his FC Barcelona contract until June 30 of 2015, with the buy-out clause set at 200 million euros.
Iniesta, aged 25, had a contract until 2014 and a buy-out clause of 150 million. The new
conditions have added one more year to make a total of six.
“My dream is to retire here”
Having signed, Andrés Iniesta spoke to Barça TV. “It is a very
special day. I want to thank to President, the Board and Txiki Begiristain for continuing to have
faith in me. It is step further towards my dream, which is to retire here”.
He also wants to win more titles. “I’d like to end my career and look back at
everything I have won, that’s what makes us happy. I’ll have to fight for that”
he said.
First choice player
Andrés Iniesta is one of the four captains and one of the most decisive
members of the FC Barcelona squad. His has manager Josep Guardiola’s every confidence, and
has played in 15 games this season, nine times as a starter. In fact, ever since he joined the
first team he has been a regular first choice player.
